Important Notes:
- Only topics categorized as 'Decisional' possess voting functionality.
- Only a member with a Chair or administrator role can open and close topic votes.
- To vote, a member must possess voting rights - which is set within their member profile accessible from the group page. An example of a non-voting member may be a group administrator who only manages the logistics of the group rather than participating as a full member.
- The weight of a vote is affected by a member's 'vote value' - which is stored under their member profile accessible from the group page. An example of a vote value other than 1 would be the value of a share block a member may possess.
- A number of group-level vote settings may be set or modified which will impact the specific behavior of voting and how vote outcomes are calculated. Additional information related to these settings can be found here.
An Overview of Voting on Topics
The voting functionality of a decisional topic is comprised of 4 primary components:
- The vote status as 'Open' or 'Closed' - Only a member with a Chair or administrator role can open and close topic votes.
- A member's own vote - To vote, a member must possess voting rights - which is set within their member profile accessible from the group page.
- The overall vote count - Vote counts are affected by the individual 'vote values' assigned to members.
- The votes of other members - Individual voting status and vote values are displayed next to each voting member.
